Boat Owner Log
⚙ Built for outboard & trailer owners

Run your boat the way you
service an engine — by the hour.

Boat Owner Log is the technical logbook that tracks engine hours, equipment condition and maintenance intervals for your outboard, trolling motor and trailer — so nothing gets discovered the hard way, mid-lake.

The Toolkit

Everything a boat's maintenance file should be

One organiser for the technical side of ownership — the engine, the electrics, the trailer and every hour logged on the water.

Engine-Hour Maintenance

Total runtime for your outboard and trolling motor drives every countdown — oil, gear oil, spark plugs, impeller, fuel filter, anodes, grease fittings, bearings and tires each tracked against actual hours, not the calendar.

📋

Full Equipment Registry

A boat card with hull, length, capacity and registration, plus the outboard, trolling motor, battery bank, sonar, pumps and trailer — with service history, cost, parts used and a fault list ranked by priority.

🧮

Ten Engineering Calculators

Fuel burn, range by the rule of thirds, trolling motor runtime, battery sizing, load capacity, weight distribution and trim, tongue weight, propeller pitch, trip cost and a seasonal maintenance budget.

Pre-Launch, Post-Trip & Layup Lists

A pre-launch checklist that puts the drain plug first, a post-trip routine for flushing, draining and charging, and a full winterisation layup — with critical steps flagged so they can't be skipped quietly.

🗺

Trip & Season Logging

Log water, hours, fuel and crew per trip. Fill-ups reveal your real burn rate, safety equipment expiry dates stay visible, and season totals, trends and goals build automatically over time.

🎓

Learning Academy

Twelve illustrated topics across three levels — from boat anatomy to propeller selection and fault diagnosis — each closing with a five-question quiz, plus a troubleshooting catalogue and a 250+ term glossary.

About Us

Why we built a logbook instead of another app

We're a small crew of boat owners and software builders who kept doing the same thing every spring: digging through paper receipts and half-remembered service dates to figure out whether the impeller was actually due. Boat Owner Log started as our own fix for that problem.

🌊

Our mission is simple — replace guesswork with hours. Boats don't wear out on a calendar, they wear out on runtime, and we wanted a tool that measures ownership the same way a mechanic would: engine hours logged, intervals counted down, nothing left to memory.

🔧

What you get is a complete technical file for your boat — an equipment registry, ten engineering calculators, pre-launch and layup checklists, and a season log that turns fill-ups and trips into a real picture of how your boat is actually used.

🧭

It matters because the classic mistakes — a missed drain plug, an overdue impeller, a trailer bearing nobody checked — are almost always preventable, and almost always expensive. Boat Owner Log exists so you catch them on your terms, on shore, not on the water.

Track the hours. Trust the boat.

Privacy Policy

Your data stays on your device — full stop

Effective Date: August 1, 2026

Boat Owner Log was designed around a simple rule: nothing about your boat, your maintenance history or your whereabouts should ever have to leave your device. This policy explains exactly what that means in practice.

1. Information We Collect

We collect nothing. Boat Owner Log has no sign-up, no account, no analytics pings and no background data collection of any kind. Every hull card, engine log, calculator entry and trip note you create stays exactly where you typed it — on your iPhone or iPad.

2. How We Use Information

Because no information is ever collected, none is ever used, analysed, profiled or sold. We have no servers logging your activity and no dataset of user behaviour to study, because none exists.

3. Data Storage

All boat records, service history, checklists, trip logs and calculator results are stored locally in the app's on-device storage. There is no cloud sync, no remote backup and no external database — your maintenance file lives on your hardware alone.

4. Third-Party Services

Boat Owner Log does not integrate analytics software development kits, advertising networks or third-party trackers. No data is shared with, or transmitted to, any outside company, because the app has no network layer built for that purpose.

5. Data Security

The safest data is data that never leaves the device, and that is the model Boat Owner Log follows. Your records are protected by the same device-level security you already rely on — passcode, biometrics and Apple's platform safeguards — with no additional server-side exposure to worry about.

6. Children's Privacy

Boat Owner Log does not knowingly or unknowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because the app gathers no data from any user of any age, it does not present the risks addressed by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

7. Your Control

There are no accounts to manage and nothing stored remotely to request the deletion of. Uninstalling the app permanently removes every hull card, service record, trip log and calculator entry it ever held — the data is entirely in your hands, at all times.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this policy is ever updated — for example, to reflect a new feature — the revised version will be published within the app with a new effective date. Our core commitment, that Boat Owner Log collects no user data, is not expected to change.

Questions about this policy can be sent to privacy@boatownerlogapp.com.
